Case Study: Creating Operational Resilience for a Nationwide Wholesale Distributor

Written by NexusTek | Oct 24, 2025 9:00:00 AM

This nationwide wholesale distributor of plumbing supplies, known for its broad product selection and dependable service, began facing escalating IT challenges as it expanded operations across more than 30 U.S. locations. Aging systems, limited internal IT resources, and frequent outages—worsened by regional wildfires and utility shutdowns—put business continuity and data security at risk. Recognizing the need for a more stable, scalable foundation, the company turned to NexusTek to help modernize its infrastructure and improve resilience.

Keeping distribution running through stability and scale

To strengthen continuity, NexusTek helped relocate the company’s primary data center to the secure Switch facility in Las Vegas—eliminating downtime tied to outages and natural disasters. A modern disaster recovery solution was implemented to protect business-critical data and ensure rapid recovery.

At the same time, NexusTek migrated 750 users to an Azure-hosted Microsoft 365, environment, improving accessibility and easing the load on local infrastructure. The team also procured and deployed laptops to support a growing remote workforce and delivered an on-site wireless solution for a 4,000-square-foot distribution center.

NexusTek also provided infrastructure monitoring and deployed cybersecurity technologies to ensure secure access across all locations. This included implementing Barracuda for email protection, Citrix for multifactor authentication (MFA), and Cisco for web security.

Building confidence through resilient IT operations

With NexusTek’s support, the company has transformed its IT environment into a more resilient, secure, and scalable foundation for growth. Downtime caused by local infrastructure issues is no longer a concern, and employees now enjoy consistent, secure access to business-critical systems from any location. The migration to Microsoft 365 and implementation of modern disaster recovery have improved business continuity, while hardened cybersecurity protections help defend against evolving threats.

By offloading day-to-day IT management and relying on NexusTek’s expertise, the company has reduced operational risk and positioned itself to continue delivering fast, dependable service—no matter what challenges arise over time.
