What is cybersecurity?

  • Identify: Understand current cyber risks, assets, and risk management practices.
  • Protect: Put safeguards in place to reduce cyber risk and defend critical assets.
  • Detect: Find and analyze potential cybersecurity, threats, vulnerabilities, and incidents.
  • Respond: Contain and mitigate the impact of a cybersecurity incident.
  • Recover: Restore systems and operations with minimal disruption after an incident.

Modern cybersecurity also increasingly uses zero trust, which assumes users and devices should be continuously verified rather than trusted by default.
