Case Study: Powering Independence and Security at Scale for an Energy Services Company

ENERGY CASE STUDY

Vault Pressure Control, an industry-leading provider of equipment, expertise, and field services for the oil and gas industry, faced a pivotal moment: transitioning from a corporate division of Baker Hughes into an independent entity. With just 60 days to establish a complete IT foundation, it turned to NexusTek to assess their environment and define a clear path forward.

Building a secure foundation with energy-grade infrastructure

NexusTek performed a full-scale assessment, which revealed the need for an entirely new IT environment across office and field locations. The evaluation guided decisions on what to rebuild, what to retire, and how to maintain seamless operations during the transition. NexusTek then designed a hybrid cloud infrastructure, installed modern networking, refreshed outdated hardware, and deployed a VoIP system to streamline communication.

To maintain continuity, NexusTek managed the complex migration of data, including all Microsoft 365 user accounts, from the previous environment without disrupting productivity. Protecting sensitive customer and operational data, especially in safety-critical oil and gas environments, was a top priority. A custom cybersecurity program was also implemented with encrypted architecture, multi-factor authentication (MFA), email filtering to block phishing attempts, and employee training to minimize user error. Ongoing support was established through NexusTek’s Complete IT Services, with a dedicated engineer and Virtual CIO (vCIO) leadership guiding long-term IT strategy. Redundant infrastructure and a disaster recovery plan were also put in place to ensure uptime, resilience, and peace of mind.

Independent and equipped to focus on what counts

Vault Pressure Control made the transition to an independent entity without a hitch. A new IT infrastructure was launched on time, and operations continued smoothly throughout the change. Core systems and communication tools now run securely and reliably across the organization. Security postures also improved significantly. With a stable IT foundation in place, the company can stay focused on delivering for its customers.
