Case Study: A Decade of Partnership and Progress for a Multinational Produce Distributor

This multinational produce grower and distributor, with operations across Canada and more than 20 U.S. states, needed to modernize its infrastructure to enable secure, remote access to its ERP platform and collaboration tools. Employees in seed labs, fields, packing plants, and offices required reliable connectivity and protection across locations. Without an internal IT team, the company looked to NexusTek to centralize access and implement layered cybersecurity defenses that support secure productivity from anywhere.
Connecting teams and data across every growing region
To unify operations and improve access, NexusTek migrated the customer’s on-premises workloads—including their agriculture-specific Famous ERP system—into a private cloud environment, combining the flexibility of the cloud with the control and security the business required. Employees were equipped with NexusTek Virtual Desktops and Microsoft 365, enabling access to data and collaboration tools from any location.
To enhance security, NexusTek implemented a multi-layered strategy: Barracuda email protection to block threats, multi-factor authentication (MFA) for secure login, and strong password complexity policies. Regular firewall and server updates were added to ensure systems remain protected and up to date.
NexusTek also delivered 24/7/365 help desk services to give employees timely access to technical assistance. For continued infrastructure needs, NexusTek completed project-based work such as designing and deploying IT for a new 100,000-plussquare- foot packing facility. Additional initiatives included configuring SharePoint for Salesforce integration and managing workstation refreshes.
Supporting uptime and security in a fast-moving harvest season
With 99.9% uptime in the private cloud, the company minimized costly disruptions during its brief, high-volume harvest and sales season. Employees across the U.S. and Canada can securely access the ERP system and communicate through Microsoft 365 from anywhere.
Around-the-clock help desk support ensured quick resolution of technology issues, while multi-layered security protected proprietary seed breeding data. Today, the company relies on a secure, scalable IT foundation to support daily operations and power continued growth.
